Steve MacNamara is Wescott’s Chief Investment Officer, guiding Wescott’s asset allocation models and investment strategies for the firm’s clients through the constantly evolving markets. Leading Wescott’s Investment Research Group, he is responsible for monitoring, researching, shaping and evolving all Wescott investment strategies, products and portfolio models.
Steve is a key member of Wescott’s Investment Committee and oversees the firm’s Portfolio Strategy Group, which comprises all Wescott advisors and others who implement and oversee client portfolios.
He supports the firm in all client and related communications on investment-focused matters, including white papers and quarterly Commentaries as well as all other matters regarding Wescott’s investment philosophy, perspective, outlook and performance.
Steve has been in the investment industry for more than 25 years. He has held positions with responsibilities ranging from security analysis, allocation policy, strategy development and portfolio construction, and has deep experience in the areas most impacting Wescott’s clients—current and future.
Most recently, Steve was CEO and CIO of Horizons West Capital Partners LLC, a boutique investment advisor and asset manager. HWCP Consulting provided outsourced chief investment officer capabilities including manager search, asset allocation modeling, capital market strategy and business plan/product development-related services. In addition, HWCP provided a form of global long/short multi-strategy hedged income portfolio management that incorporated the best of the alternative, hybrid, fixed income and equity asset classes in order to construct all-weather investment portfolios that generate total returns above other assets of comparable risk.
In the past, Steve has provided investment advisory services to a diverse collection of the world’s most high-profile investors, including billion-dollar global financial institutions, Fortune 100 business executives, leading Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, members of the Hollywood creative community, and a number of the world’s top athletes.
He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance and international economics from The University of Florida, and his masters of business of administration from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
Steve resides with his wife, Mary MacNamara, and their son.
